Body & Soul, the new health and well-being-themed city festival to be held in 2027/2028

Leuven boasts a rich history in medical and health sciences. This is, after all, where Andreas Vesalius laid the foundations of modern anatomy in the 16th century. Today, the city is still an epicentre of medical innovation. Leuven University and its hospital, as well as institutions such as VIB and imec, are all considered global leaders in their respective fields.

Body & Soul links medical and high-tech aspects with care and well-being. The festival aims to integrate this theme even more deeply into Leuven's DNA. We will be establishing links between health and well-being and various disciplines, including culture and the arts, research, education, sports, sustainability, and many others.

Collaboration, in which we aim to avoid pigeonholing, is key to the organisation a top-class international event, with an approach that is both connective and holistic. It is not body or soul, but body and soul, after all.

The overall vision of Body & Soul is perfectly attuned to LOV2030. Therefore, it is hardly a coincidence that Body & Soul will serve as a flagship project in our ambition to become European Cultural Capital in 2030.
